The Starfish Project

Manti had this 3 wheeled scooter built for him by the Starfish Project so he can travel to high school from his rural village. He used to use a handpowered bicycle, but the trip to high school was too far. Manti's favorite subjects are English and math. Manti plans to study accounting at university in Phnom Phen. This photo was recently published alongside an article called " The Beauty of Compassion " written by Tim Patterson

 TIP OF THE WEEK

I find that the longer i stay somewhere the better photos i get.  This photo taken outside Sihanoukville took several weeks to find the NGO, make friends with the workers, get invited to go into "the field" with them and wait for the timing to workout.

Technical Tip :  Fill Flash - I used my flash here in daylight to lighten the close shadows, esp on Manti's  face. Make sure to use a pretty wide aperture when using fill flash otherwise it wont really show up.
